The present administration has negotiated reductions in Iraqi hostilities in exchange for the American agreement to withdrawal from Iraq.   When Democrats discuss this action they are labeled quitters, defeatists, liberals, girly men.   Here in real-time, it’s the Republicans who are sitting down to negotiate this draw-down with the “terrorists who wish to defeat us.” They are calling this retreat a successful troop-surge.   Because Bush has agreed to a “surrender time-line,” the fighting has subsided.  He didn’t negotiate this deal this week.  It has been in the works for many many months as evidenced through multiple negotiated-cease-fires over the past two years.

I’m taking an unscientific poll of my own here.   Which of the following sentences makes the most sense given the above facts?

A — President Bush has reversed his position and executed the very Democratic plan that his party has spent the past 7 years ridiculing.

B — I am no longer fully convinced that the Bush  and McCain camps are being honest with the American people.

C — John McCain’s successful troop surge demonstrates his Presidential qualifications.

Bush Capitulates, Concedes to Obama Timetable – McCain Takes Credit

Did the surge work, or did Bush concede to timetables in concert with election cycle?

Whose strategy is on top here?

Re-Posting — because the question I close with has not yet been answered:

I am an independent conservative who ten years ago moved from my family’s red state to Illinois.  The family-nurture influences on my social perspectives were Christian, Catholic, social conservative, fiscal conservative… you know the drill.

Many of “their” values remain mine.  That’s why the arguments that I now have with conservatives leaves me, literally, with knots in my stomach.  The present administration has betrayed its party, its constituents, its country and democracy itself.  They have abandoned fiscal conservative restraint without even the pretense of accountability.

Along the way, they have ignored the constitution, under-taxed the profiteers who bankroll their elections, lied their way into war,  botched that war at every turn, created multiple civil wars in the Middle East, incessantly fed the pressure points that have driven up the price of crude oil, dropped interest rates dangerously low for extended periods of time, encouraged unethical & immoral banking practices and brought the worlds banking system to its knees through mis-regulation …  The list of betrayals is too exhausting to continue.

What hurts most is that my defense of conservative principles today results in my being labeled a liberal.  Lib.  Progressive.  Fairy.  Tree Hugger.  Green Freak.  Atheist.  Commie Pinko Pig.   What kind of mind control is going on in this country?  Why do those betrayed not see this betrayal?

Senator Obama has been delivering a truly “conservative” message to his constituency for years.  They are listening to him – they have/are cleaning up their neighborhoods.   The people he serves are today more proud, more productive, more self sufficient than when he arrived.

Why are my red-state brothers and conservative Illinois friends deriding my defense of conservative values?

Found a link to a text copy of Senator Obama’s acceptance speech at the convention.  This one man may transform American politics and redefine participatory democracy for generations to come.

America’s present challenge was laid out tonight by Sen. Obama as purposefully redefining the Democratic Party?  Thoughts?  See my last post for more if yo like.

Composing my apology

July 18, 2008

They are unbearable flashbacks.   I’m crossing a street with m.a . and three or five friends in the best Saturday night district where we live.  It’s Spring 2003.  We are talking politics.  My views in this dialogue-debate are based on fundamentals that I believed were solid if indeed Machiavellian, Darwinian, nationalistic.   I’m working on an apology, here, to America and Iraq.   I supported the war in the name of cheap oil for America.  The administration rewarded my greed with greed of her own and $140 barrels of oil.  Greenback karma stings, and it’s time for America to apologize both to herself and to Iraq.   Installment-A 07.17.08

Regarding Iran: The President has avoided every opportunity to make peace in the region. Examples are too numerous to list here.  Further, he has encouraged and even created civil wars in the region during his tenure. The ensuing chaos and fear have given way to obscene crude-oil profits and control of the US Congress.

He further feeds fear of Iran to his media machines as a tool of influence in primary election results at home and will do the same this fall.  These Iran / Iraq fear-mantras hit the commodity pits with symphonic precision.

Quick background update…  His control of all (not just a few) Federal agencies encouraged if it did not actually create the housing bubble which has not yet fully unwound.  The collapse of his housing bubble necessitated his inflation of the commodities bubble.  Yes, the housing bubble follows in the President’s wake as he speeds towards Iran in these final months of power.  The two bubbles are related to one another and therefore to Iran.

The least-damning goal of his Iran rhetoric is further inflation of the oil / corn bubbles which are causing unprecedented global inflation, international starvation and widespread corporate collapse.  Companies and funds with new oil-wealth will reinvent themselves while picking up the steeply discounted pieces of the many “fallen” corporations as the oil bubble collapses, by the way.

The most damning goal of the President’s Iran rhetoric is WWIII with a taste for the biggest military jackpot in history: British/American ownership of the oil rights that feed the markets that his corporate sponsors have already fully “cornered.”  The present President of the United States has brought unbearable disgrace to his office and our country.  Wake up America.  Take back the White House.  Take control of this President.
